Roland Fantom 6
The Fantom-6 is a 61-key keyboard and music workstation that provides an all-in-one solution for music making. It is a 16-part multitimbral keyboard that features 256-note polyphony in ZEN-core mode and aftertouch. Additionally, the V-Piano mode allows for realistic and expressive play and unlimited polyphony. The center of the Fantom is the large and clear LCD touch-screen which displays all relevant parameters. This includes everything from envelope shape to a bank of sequences. The display can also be a playable pad with four zones in each of the corners that can be blended. Presets are organized by scenes which contain 16 zones; including sounds, clips, patterns, and control layout. There are a variety of effects, both master and individual zone effects are available to be assigned and edited. Multiple scenes can be linked together to create songs.
Besides the keyboard there are 16 pads and a 16-step sequencer with TR-style drum pattern sequencing. The synth engine is based on partials. Each Partial is a discrete synth voice with oscillator, amplifier, filter, dual LFO, and effects. Four Partials can be included in a single tone and there are up to 16 tones in a scene. It boasts hybrid sounds from the virtual analog, PCM, and analog filter. The analog filter is a true analog stereo filter with a lot of character and selectable filter types. Fantom allows you up to 128 LFOs assignable per voice (wow) for an incredible amount of modulation. Control your sound with filter and ADSR controls as well as eight encoders and sliders which change depending on the partial. Additional control can be accessed by the combo pitch bend/mod wheel and two additional wheels.
Fantom features a 16x3 audio interface for recording audio or MIDI. Inputs include two XLR/ΒΌ" inputs, three USB inputs for device expansion, MIDI in, and four pedal inputs. Outputs include stereo pair of analog filter outputs, two stereo sub outputs, two gate and CV outputs for use with modular gear, two MIDI through/outs, XLR, and TRS outputs. All that together makes for an incredibly powerful music making station that provides endless hours of exploration.
