Great Sound, Easy to Swap Out

Changing your snares can be as stressful as changing your hairstyle. Well, not for long with PureSound. The PureSound Custom Pro Brass snare wires don't just sound great. They're also some of the easiest to use - easiest to dial in, and easiest to swap out. Nylon Speed Straps are held in place by two removable clips. So you can try different snare wires or change your bottom head in seconds without touching your throw off or butt plate. This gives you instant access to every Speed Release snare set in PureSound's catalog: brass, steel, 20-strand, or 24-strand. PureSound Custom Pro snare wires also feature anti-choke end plates to reduce head damping and sympathetic buzz. Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer to find the set of PureSounds that's right for you.

PureSound 14" Custom Pro Brass Snare Wires Features:
  • Brass wires sound bright and resonant
  • Ultra sensitive - bent clips press snare wires against the bottom head
  • Anti-choke end plates reduce head damping and sympathetic snare buzz
  • Speed Release nylon straps let you change out snares and heads in seconds - no de-tensioning required!
  • Rule marks on straps help you recall settings if removed
  • Designed and manufactured in the USA

Brass is where it is at

The strap is cool. I still have to use wire on my throw off side. I have enjoyed pulling the pin to lay snares aside for tuning. Replacing the pin can be frustrating but still a good option. The brass is the thing. You really need to see if you like the sound. I put steel wires back on to try fewer strands and could not stand the sound. So brash and blatty compared to the musicality of the brass.

Great snares, interesting concept & sometimes headache

1) Snare wires are top-notch. Brass definitely gives a full smack and helps with excessive tone/ring. I use them on the Tama SLP Kapur 6.5x14 snare, which is very dry and overtone-heavy. These snares tamed the ring and brought a perfect amount of snap and darkness. Great product for that full snare sound.

2) The strap/pin system is . . . ok. Good idea, but there's little instruction on getting it installed correctly. The pin goes through the slit between the 2 white lines, NOT the end of the strap, as they are packaged. Made that mistake and the pins kept flying out.

3) If the pins aren't centered in the dampening plate, the straps will slip. I was on a gig & kept tightening my throw-offs, to the point I couldn't tighten anymore, and the snares were BARELY on. It was simple to fix in between sets . . . so I guess the concept worked there. Easiest snare setup I've ever had to do.

4) Overall, great wires. But, is the quick-change concept worth it? Plenty of YouTube comments speak to both sides. If you've got everything perfectly placed, I say yes. Maybe just spend some time with them before playing live.

The clips are a nice concelpt, but can be problematic...

I loved the idea of the clips for easy remove/swapping of the wires. In operations, they turned out to be a headache on a gig. Now that I know that the rounded end of the clip can slip into the slot on the snare wire plate, I would be careful about making sure it doesn't happen. But, I prefer to eliminate any possible issues so, I have replaced the included straps/clips to avoid any further issues on the fly.

Stock wires sound better to me

Neat concept. I've tried all 14" models and the stock wires that came on my snares sound better and have less buzz than any of the Puresound wires. Just my opinion
