Maintain Drumhead Tension While Playing

The TAMA TTL10's octagonal hole fits perfectly on your tension rod head, locking it into place. It doesn't prevent you from tuning your drum, however, thanks to an elastic O-ring around its hole. Beyond that, this tension lock's offset hole allows it to fit a wide range of hoops. The TAMA TTL10 is an easy way to maintain your drumhead's tension while you play.

Octagonal hole for a perfect fit

The TAMA TTL10 features eight evenly placed protrusions around its hole, which makes it fit perfectly on a square rod head. Once locked into place, this tension lock keeps the rod from loosening, maintaining the tension of your drumhead. Beyond that, the hole's offset position allows the TTL10 to fit a wide range of hoops.

Elastic O-ring for easy tuning

The O-ring is built into the TAMA TTL10 effectively prevents your tension rod from loosening or rotating; however, its elasticity ensures that you can still tune your drum. Its pliability also prevents it from deforming — even after multiple tunings.

TAMA crafts top-shelf drums for top-shelf drummers

TAMA builds their drums with a painstaking attention to detail, precision, and care in order to deliver the best drum tone possible. And countless touring drummers and session aces as diverse as Rush's Neil Peart and Metallica's Lars Ulrich (and quite a few here at Sweetwater), swear by them. Yet, in addition to crafting superb drums, TAMA is determined to innovate on the hardware front, as well. Their Iron Cobra Coil kick drum pedals are among the world's most popular, and you'll find that cymbals stands, snare stands, and drum thrones from TAMA are just as heavy-duty and reliable.

TAMA TTL10 Tension Lock Features:

  • Locks your tension rod into place
  • Octagonal hole fits perfectly on your tension rod head
  • Elastic O-ring allows you to tune your drum without removing the tension lock
  • Pliable design prevents deformation after multiple tunings
  • Offset hole accommodates a wide range of hoops

Keeps my 16" Bass Drum/Floor Tom Conversion in Tune

I converted my 16" floor tom to a bass drum, and I use these on the batter head to keep it from shaking loose. I can usually go 2-3 jazz gigs before worrying about tuning again.

Obviously if you are pounding the snot out of your drums and have cheap lugs and tension rods, this isn't going to save you, but it will keep the lugs from slowly loosening over time.

If your head is stretching out from playing, this won't help you either.

But for their stated purpose of keeping tension rods from turning, they work great, albeit being overpriced.

Tama Tension Lock (TTL) Review

If you do not own a Sonor kit or have a Sonor snare, Tamas TTL work almost as good as or equal to Sonors TuneSafe lugs. I have used these on my other snare and they do work. Once the drum is in tune put them on and go. After two weeks of playing and two gigs snare still in tune. For the price and value, you can not beat it. A thanks to my rep. Aaron Andersen @ x3466

Amazing

These things work great. Put them over top of the top of the lugs on a drum that is already tuned up. Put them fat side towards rim so that there is no room for the lug to spin counter clockwise. I have a regular gig where I had to tune after every song the lug where my stick hits. Only need three or four of these and the drum has stayed in tune for two months now at a church gig...so that"s 2x4 songs x 8 weeks = 64 songs and still very close to original pitch. Without: Only lasted one or two songs before needing tuning.

They are as good as advertised

i had an issue where my snare top head kept loosening. i ended up putting it on my shelf and used my other snare. i then stumbled across these, and i decided to try them out since they werent too expensive for what you get. i tuned up my snare, put them on, and MAN these things work! after a heavy metal jam the snare had the exact same sound as before. i put this as 4 1/2 stars because i found it easier to take them off if you want to tune your snare differently, but other than that, these really work! after about 6 months they still keep it tuned. dont listen to the reviews that say these dont work. its still a drum head, its gonna loose its tone. these only stop the tension rods from loosening.

These don't work

Don't waste your money on these. I didn't even make it two songs into our set before my snare head was just as lose as before putting them on. I honestly didn't have high hopes and now I know why.
